Amoxicillin 500mg capsules are a widely prescribed penicillin-class antibiotic used to treat a broad range of common bacterial infections. Each capsule contains amoxicillin (as amoxicillin trihydrate) 500mg, supplied in a blister pack of 10 capsules. Doctors commonly prescribe amoxicillin for infections of the chest (such as bronchitis and pneumonia), ear, nose and throat, skin, and urinary tract. It works by stopping the growth of the bacteria causing the infection. Amoxicillin is a prescription antibiotic: take it exactly as your prescriber directs, space your doses evenly through the day, and always complete the full course even if you feel better — stopping early can allow the infection to return and contributes to antibiotic resistance.
